Firm-calibrated practice
Practise interviews calibrated to
Vyo adjusts question style, technical depth, behavioural emphasis and difficulty to the firm you select. Pack firms get full calibration; other firms default to the sector standard.
What Vyo does differently
Why this is not just ‘ChatGPT for interviews’
Vyo reads your CV first
Upload your CV at the start and Vyo pulls real lines from it: "walk me through the deal you mentioned." Generic mocks are gone. Every question is one an actual interviewer would ask you specifically.
Sub-second conversational voice
Built on Gemini Live from Google, best-in-class real-time voice AI. Natural turn-taking, realistic pauses, interruptions that actually feel like interruptions.
Follows up where you need probing
Vague on numbers? Vyo digs. Loose on motivation? Vyo digs. Said you "led" something without specifics? Vyo wants who, how many, what you did differently. The follow-ups mirror what senior interviewers actually probe.
Difficulty: friendly to grilling
Three modes. Friendly for early prep, standard for typical interviews, grilling for Goldman, McKinsey and magic-circle later rounds. Set it to the firm and stage you are actually preparing for.
Annotated transcript, every line marked
Strong lines highlighted green, wobbles amber, red flags red. Inline notes on exactly what to fix and how to say it next time. Six-competency scoring on top.
Firm-calibrated by default
Pick Goldman, Vyo runs the Goldman style. Pick Bain, the question rhythm shifts. Firms with full Packs get bespoke calibration; every other tracked firm defaults to a sector standard.
The basics
What is a live AI interview?
A live AI interview is a real-time spoken conversation with an AI interviewer. You speak, the AI listens, the AI follows up, and the back-and-forth feels like sitting across from a recruiter rather than answering pre-recorded prompts. Unlike HireVue, there is no fixed question list, no recording timer, and no waiting for a delayed AI score: the conversation adapts to what you say in the moment.
Intervyo's live AI is called Vyo. Vyo runs on Gemini Live from Google, the best-in-class real-time voice AI for interview conversation, which gives sub-second turn-taking, natural pauses, realistic interruptions, and conversational intelligence. The result is closer to a real interview than any other prep tool on the market - and crucially, closer than ChatGPT, which can simulate the words of an interviewer but cannot listen, time you, or interrupt.
The differentiator is that Vyo reads your résumé before the session starts. Generic AI interviewers ask everyone the same five questions: “tell me about a time you led a team”, “why this firm”, “walk me through your résumé.” Vyo pulls the projects, deals, internships and societies from your résumé and asks about them by name. Every session is calibrated to your actual story, and the practice you do is the practice you will need on the day.
Live AI works best for the questions where the follow-up is the test. Behavioural stories (the “tell me about a time” format), motivational questions (why this firm, why this division), and commercial-awareness deep dives all live in the live AI session. Use HireVue practice for the one-take recorded format firms screen with; use live AI for the back-and-forth content you cannot rehearse alone.
Most candidates use Vyo three or four times in the lead-up to a real interview. The first session surfaces the gaps. The second session tightens the weakest two stories. The third session runs at grilling difficulty so the real one feels softer than the practice did. By the time you walk in for the real thing, the conversational habit is built.
The CV-aware difference
Same résumé bullet. Two interviewers.
What generic AI asks vs what Vyo asks, given the same line on your résumé. The difference between practising for a real interview and practising for nothing.
Generic AI interviewer
Question
Tell me about a time you led a team.
The same question every candidate gets. No tie to what is actually on your résumé. The answer you rehearse here is the answer you would give to any firm, for any role.
Vyo
Question
I see you ran the Investment Society pitch competition - twenty-something teams entered. Walk me through how you handled the disagreement on judging criteria with the Finance VP. You mentioned that in your leadership bullet but did not get into it.
Specific, references the actual line in your résumé, surfaces a detail you mentioned but did not fully unpack. The answer you rehearse here is the answer you will need on the day.
Calibrate the difficulty
Three modes. From training wheels to grilling.
Switch the difficulty per session. Most candidates start friendly, move to standard a week before interviews, hit grilling 48 hours out so the real one feels soft.
Warm, encouraging. Gives you slack on weaker answers, restates your strongest points back to you. Best for early prep when you are still finding your stories.
Sample question
“"That sounds like a really interesting project. Tell me a bit more about your role in it - what part did you enjoy most?"”
Neutral interviewer. Follows up on the weakest answer per question. Mirrors the average front-office first-round experience.
Sample question
“"You mentioned you led the team. Can you give me a specific example of a decision you made that the team disagreed with, and how you resolved it?"”
Cold, sceptical. Pushes on every claim, interrupts when you ramble, asks the same question two different ways to test consistency. The Goldman / McKinsey / magic-circle final-round mode.
Sample question
“"You keep saying you led the team. Be specific - what did you do that the rest of the team would not have done if you had not been there?"”
How Vyo scores you
Every session scored across six competencies
The same rubric Intervyo uses for HireVue and Superday sessions. Specific notes per competency, not a vague “good job.”
Communication
Clarity of speech, pacing, vocabulary, and how confidently you express yourself across the full session.
Structure
How well-organised your answers are. STAR usage, clear beginning, middle and end, signposting between points.
Relevance
Does your answer actually address what was asked? Are your examples appropriate for the firm and the role you are interviewing for?
Technical Depth
For technical questions: accuracy and depth of concepts. For behavioural: specificity and credibility of your examples.
Confidence
Assertiveness, conviction in your answers, and absence of filler words (um, uh, like, you know). Tracked across the session.
Problem Solving
How you approach challenges, weigh trade-offs, and arrive at decisions in the examples you choose to tell.
Compare your options
Live AI practice: your options
The honest comparison. Vyo is built for graduate finance interviews specifically. The alternatives have trade-offs.

How it works
From CV upload to scored debrief
Upload your résumé
Vyo reads it before the session starts. Your projects, deals, internships, societies, all loaded into the conversation. Takes about three seconds.
Pick firm and difficulty
Choose the firm (Goldman, McKinsey, Linklaters and hundreds of others) and the difficulty (friendly, standard, grilling). Vyo calibrates style and depth automatically.
Talk, then read the report
Sub-second conversation, follow-ups where needed. Annotated transcript, six-competency score, rewrites of your weakest answers, and a debrief in recruiter voice.
How to actually use it
The session schedule that works
From the candidates who used Vyo three or more times and went on to get offers.
- 01
First session, friendly difficulty
2 to 3 weeks outGoal: surface the gaps. Which stories are weak? Which CV bullets you cannot defend? Treat the report as a diagnostic, not a verdict.
- 02
Second session, standard difficulty
1 week outTighten the weakest two stories from session one. Drill the technicals if they came up amber. Tone of voice and pacing should be more controlled than session one.
- 03
Third session, grilling difficulty
48 hours outThe mode that mirrors what an MD on a Goldman Superday would actually do. If you can hold up here, the real interview will feel calmer than the practice did.
- 04
Optional: Vyo Coach chat, not full session

FAQ
Live AI questions, answered
What's the difference between a live AI interview and HireVue practice?
HireVue is a one-shot pre-recorded format: you read a question, get 30 seconds to prepare, record a 2-minute answer, the AI scores it after. A live AI interview is conversational. Vyo speaks the question, listens to your answer in real time, follows up where you are vague, pushes back where you are weak. Better for behavioural depth and motivational questions where the follow-up is the test. Use HireVue practice for the one-take format your firm actually uses; use live AI for the back-and-forth content you cannot rehearse alone.
Does Vyo actually read my CV?
Yes. At the start of every session you upload your CV (or a paste-in works too). Vyo extracts the projects, deals, internships, society work, dissertation topic, and uses them to drive the questions. Instead of 'tell me about a time you led a team' you get 'walk me through the M&A pitch you led for the Investment Society in section 2.' Generic AI mocks are gone. Every question is one a real interviewer who skimmed your CV would ask.
How does Vyo follow up on weak answers?
Vyo listens for vague claims and pushes back. Said you 'improved efficiency' without a number? Vyo asks for the number. Said you 'led the team' without specifics? Vyo asks who, how many, what you did differently to the previous leader. Said something interesting but rushed it? Vyo asks you to slow down on that point. The follow-ups mirror what senior interviewers (associates, VPs, partners) actually probe for - they have heard a thousand vague answers and are trained to drill into them. Practising with Vyo builds the habit of having the detail ready before you need it.
Can I set the difficulty?
Yes. Three levels. Friendly: warm, encouraging, gives you slack on weaker answers, useful for early prep when you are still finding your stories. Standard: neutral interviewer, follows up on the weakest answer per question, mirrors the average front-office first-round experience. Grilling: cold, sceptical, pushes on every claim, interrupts when you ramble, asks the same question two different ways to test consistency - the mode that mirrors how Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, and the magic-circle law firms actually run later-stage interviews.
How realistic is the voice and conversation?
Vyo runs on Gemini Live from Google, the best-in-class real-time voice AI for exactly this job. That gives sub-second turn-taking, natural pauses, realistic interruptions (Vyo can cut in if you ramble past the natural finish of a story), context-aware follow-ups, and a voice with prosody that doesn't sound robotic. Most candidates who use Vyo for the first time say the experience is closer to a real interviewer than they expected. Some report forgetting it was AI within five minutes.
Do I get a transcript and feedback after each session?
Yes. Every session produces an annotated transcript with each line of your response highlighted green (strong, keep), amber (wobbly, tighten), or red (weak, rewrite). Inline notes appear on the amber and red lines explaining exactly what is off and how to phrase it next time. On top of that you get a six-competency score (Communication, Structure, Relevance, Technical Depth, Confidence, Problem Solving), a rewritten version of your weakest answers, and a debrief written in recruiter voice noting what the interviewer would have flagged.
Which firms can I practise interviewing for?
Vyo can run interviews calibrated to any of the hundreds of firms tracked on Intervyo. For firms with full firm Packs (Goldman, JPM, Morgan Stanley, Citi, Barclays, HSBC, Deloitte, EY, KPMG, Bain, McKinsey, Linklaters, Clifford Chance, Freshfields and more) Vyo adjusts question style, technical depth, behavioural emphasis and difficulty to mirror that firm specifically. For other firms you can still run interviews; Vyo defaults to the sector standard.
How long do live AI sessions run?
Default is 25 to 35 minutes - the length of a real first-round interview. You can also pick 15 minutes (quick warm-up), 45 minutes (full-round depth), or run them back-to-back in the Superday simulator for the stacked-pressure format. Sessions auto-save so you can pick up if you get interrupted.
